Our Program

You may have tried several different diets, exercise programs, lifestyle changes, or even other formal weight loss programs. Failed attempts can lead you down a road of frustration and despair, and often these methods offer ill-advised or even dangerous shortcuts to a slimmer figure, with short-lived results.

Our philosophy is to empower patients with the knowledge and skills to improve their health through evidence-based obesity medicine, lifestyle education, and team-based support for rapid but long-term results.

Our patients lose weight and gain health.

What will I do in the program?

1) Free orientation

2) Medical visits

3) Educational classes

4) 1-on-1 wellness sessions

  • Optional long-term support

How do I begin medical weight loss?

Your first visit is a free orientation. Meet Colly Perkins, our Patient Coordinator, to learn more about the program and determine if it is a good fit for you. You will receive a Body Composition Analysis and have plenty of time to ask any questions you may have.

What are medical visits for weight loss?

Medical visits are comprised of both individual and group sessions with Dr. Cynthia Gulick, DO, or Dr. Leasa Lowy, MD or a provider specially trained in obesity medicine. At each visit, your vitals and body composition will be measured so you can see your progress and understand the changes happening in your body. At certain intervals, laboratory results will be used to determine possible deficiencies in your diet or medication regimen if you have one. You will also have the opportunity to discuss issues 1-on-1 with your physician and find solutions to dietary or lifestyle challenges.

What educational classes can I take?

We want to help you understand what is happening in your body when you gain weight so you can make educated choices for yourself. The class series in Phase 1 of the program support the information given to you at your personal medical visits. The classes cover dietary and behavioral areas that support weight loss, long-term weight maintenance, and wellness, including meal planning, goal setting, and organization. Each class has an individual check-in to share successes, problem-solve challenges, and create support for maintaining healthy lifestyle choices.

Examples of classes you may take:

Insulin and Blood Sugar

Food as Medicine

Structuring Your Environment

What are 1-on-1 Wellness Sessions?

During the initial phase, you will meet 1-on-1 with our Wellness Coach, Jayme Armstrong, to fine tune your plan for maximum success. Each person has unique circumstances and we strive to individualize our advice and support to address any challenges standing between you and optimal health. Continuous sessions are available at your request for an additional fee.

Is there long-term support?

We are here for you for the long haul. We offer a Phase 2 and a Phase 3 of the weight loss program, and otherwise, our staff and providers are flexible in understanding what long-term support looks like for you – you tell us! Whether it means one-on-one appointments with your provider or Wellness Coach, Dr. Gulick’s medical group visits, Jayme Armstrong’s educational classes, or just stopping by to use our body composition scale, we will continue our support in the capacity that best helps you.

In our experience, coming to the clinic provides patients with accountability and support. The most important time to come in is when you don’t want to – we are here to help, without any judgment, to provide you with the skills and tools to continue achieving your health goals. For more information about Dr. Gulick’s medical group visits and Jayme Armstrong’s educational classes that occur on an ongoing basis, please visit the ‘Calendar’ page for a current schedule.
